How to figure out what you want?

I don't know what to do....I am confused..
I am not sure what I am passionate about....life sucks..
I am not able to figure out what am I supposed to do in my life?....I am a failure...
I am tired of my job, but I don't know what I would love to do & earn money as well?...others are so clear about it but I am not....
I have everything....high paying job, own house, loving relationships but still not happy and content with life....what is amiss... 

We all go through such hard self talk with ourselves. It's so easy to be critical of our capabilities over other people's achievements and perfect life. However do you know that everybody undergoes through the phase of confusion, non clarity, unawareness & unease before the sense of knowing & revealing comes over. So right now stop grinding yourself for not knowing what you need or want to know. In other words relax and trust the process of life. Chill my friends....We all are sailing in the same boat called life.

The fact is we always know. The little inner voice or GPS within keep guiding us all the time provided we pay heed to it. When we say we Don't know means we are disconnected from within & not able to navigate through our GPS. We have to figure it out on our own and nobody can do it for us.

Here is my take on how to go about it....
  • Meditate to connect - Meditation is the most powerful & amazing way to establish the connection & be congruent with self. Minimum 5 minutes of daily practice helps tremendously over the period of time. You may use any mantra you resonate with or may focus on your breath during the practice. Listening to guided meditations can also be very relaxing and soothing. The intention is to calm the mental chatter and not try to control it to experience the deep peace within. It's an amazing tool to gain clarity, reduce anxiety, stress & become peaceful. 
  • Curiosity over passion - What are we really passionate about can be a very daunting question as we may or may not know our passions. Word passion may feel like a pressure cooker and fail us to rescue from drowning in the choppy waters of confusion; of not knowing. Lets just take a break from Passion journey and catch the tail of Curiosity to be free and fly along. Curiosity is that butterfly which liberates us through its presence and hooks our attention on it so that we follow its trail to explore and experience. Its that nudge to do & try something out of nowhere. But we cease to catch its tail thinking, analyzing, deciding & doubting and feel left out again after its departure. As Elizabeth Gilbert suggests " Follow your Curiosity". Make curiosity your best friend.      
  • Write to figure out - "Everything is figuroutable - By Marie Forleo" Its time to put your curiosity on paper to see its shades, flavors and seasons. What I mean is write down all the things you are curious to know, do and experience in your life right now when passion is still playing hide and seek with you. Empty your mind by penning down what you feel to do right now. For example taking up further education, any class, learning new art form, exploring online business etc. This exercise will give you few options right away to dwell on. Of course you don't need to get overwhelmed with the list and how to go about it. 
  • Time to take Action - "Clarity comes from action, not thought - By Marie Forleo". We spend most of our time & energy in thinking & analyzing. Key is to engage in action. We feel stuck or confused because we get caught up in thought. Unless you take some kind of action, you will only end up being more anxious and confused. Enroll for the class and see if you enjoy doing it, call up that prospective client, make that website, declare your workshops, sell your stuff online. Don't kill the early sunshine of curiosity for not knowing the outcome of it. Take action my friend. It will give you super clarity about whether to engage & move ahead or stop and reroute. You might even consider doing that thing for some time till you enjoy it and then switch gears, that's completely fine. You will know what is in store as you take one step at a time. 
  • Be Present in the Now - The key to consistently take action & explore the realm of curiosity  is to be totally engaged and present in every moment. Give your complete attention to what you do. Be it writing an email, making to do list, preparing a meal or cleaning up home. We ruin our present by either dwelling in past or being anxious about future. Remember all we ever have is the Present Moment - NOW. Let's honor it & enjoy the journey. As a result, you become more aware of what is happening and receive meaningful insights. And yes ultimately say Aloha to your friends - Anxiety, Fear, Distraction & procrastination.
